More Shoppin!

In the spirit of faithful reporting on my shopping excursions, I feel compelled to share this weekend's economic debauchery.

Ventured out of the city again, this time off to Metry. Hit Target and Lakeside for some essential shopping. Had a gift certiicate to Dillards left over from the birthday and needed thank-you notes from Target.

Well. . .a whole buggy later, I decided to leave Target. Sabine accompanied on the excursion, and between the 2 of us we managed to fill three buggies. No food either. Stuff for the house, stuff for the dogs, stuff for ourselves, and stuff for others. No limits.

Then it was Dillards. I started to use the gift certificate last weekend, but was so furious I just had to get out. I returned some other items to Dillards that had also been birthday related, but had apparently been purchased in excess of thirty days prior to my attempting to return them. No receipts of course. The plan was to put it all on the gift card and get something nice. Apparently Dillards is having some problem with shoplifting, because when my items rang up as "pop not sold" all hell broke loose. I got suspicious looks and once obliging employees turned into uncooperative bitches. Managers had to be brought up, (because you know they can only return clothes in the clothing depts., jewelry in jewelry, etc.), and I explain over and over that these were gifts from a relative that likes to just shop the sales and give out stuff as the appropriate occassion arises. And, no, I did not care that what was on the tag was not the price I would receive as a credit. Were they not listening, I didn't buy it, it was a gift, I don't like it. Not going to wear it/use it. So, it's worthless to me. One dollar would make me happy. They wouldn't take the necklace back at all because, "It's marked down to $12 and we would have to go into the system to do it." To which I replied, "So I can't exchange it for something else because you don't feel like it????" The answer then changed all together. Then it was, "O, it's been too long." Whatever, you mindless retards. So now I'm stuck with a neclace that only Betty Rubble or Wilma Flintstone would wear. I wonder who's birthday is coming up????

In any event, made it back to Dillards today to try again and managed to spend the gift certificate. Got a really cute purse, although the selection is sort of dismal. Everything is crammed up together and there always seems to be at least 12 little old ladies trying to pick out a new wallet right in my way. And they think I'm rude for asking them to move so that I too may shop. Dry up and drop dead.

Also had to return to target to exchange some of the t-shirts that I picked up for the hunny-bunny. Boys are so easy to shop for. Pants, shirt, done. Target's easy too, in-swap-done.

And now I am B-E-A-T. The Doggies still like to wake me up to let me know that the neighbors are awake and out in the yard. I could have gone the whole morning without this information. I truly could have.

Oh, and I guess this counts too, what the hell, it's my blog--I MAKE RULES! Anyway, also got the hair re-styled today. Love, love, love. The whole experience. I love the salon, the location, my stylist, the other people that work there. Everybody's just really great. And it's such a mix of people. Kerri (of STARDUST) does my "do" and I've decided to tone down the platinum just a smidge for a more professional look. Ack, conformity. . .

It's still not conservative, but we'll see what happens. I'm trying out some red bits and then I'll probably get some caramel colored bits in too. I have a sneaky suspicion that it will all be pink after my shower. We shall see.

That's all for now, and Happy Shopping!

This weekend's adventures

So this weekend I'm off to Mag to get my hair cut and hopefully colored. I say hopefully because my hair doesn't seem to want to take color anymore. I must have angered it somehow.

O, and heard Jackson got best of new restaurant in Gambit. Yeah!! Is my favorite, despite what those yahoos on the radio say. They don't know crap. Well, maybe they do know crap. And that's all they know. They can't shut up about Commander's and can't seem to see it for what it has become. The last time I was there (a long long time ago), some girl threw up in her iced tea and covered it with the tablecloth. I was about to be sick as well.

Ugh. Hopefully, they won't repeat their mistakes and acutally try to impress us when they are open again.

First Post!

Hi all,

This is my blog and I welcome you to it. If you're from around the area, you know of the trials and tribulations of trying to get life "back to normal." Part of normal is being able to enjoy the shops, cafes, galleries and all of the other activities that make New Orleans so much fun.

This blog is my attempt to share my personal knowledge of what boutiques and what not are open, which are closed, which have relocated, which are having sales, etc.

I'm new to blogging, but I figured I could borrow some of my Houston acquired "culture" from my 6 months in exile and maybe try it out back in New Orleans. By the way, shopping in Houston is a major pain!

Enjoy!
